Not a day in Svångemåla without a bird that just has to be in the blog...

and this time it is one more Blue tit ! One of the cutest birds I know 🥰

Fox, cat, bob cat...?

A thin layer of snow has revealed that a lot of animals are roaming around in Svångemåla.  It is very easy to see where the wild pigs have been or a hare or rabbit but what has walked here ?

My guess is a cat but since we have not seen any cats I wonder...

The moon

The air in Svångemåla is very clean and since there is no light pollution it is possible to take ok photos even without a telescope. Click on the picture to see the crates and mountains!

Willow tit

It is just a few cm of snow in Svångemåla but it is enough to brighten up the landscape.  The birds are happy when the sun comes out and even when it is cloudy I can hear the Willow tit singing. :)

I mistakenly wrote that this is Marsh tit but I know better now!

Some more birds from Malmö

It has been a bit chillier in Malmö and the dams in the parks have frozen. The seabirds gather where there is still a bit of open water and the other birds take shelter in the underground and in the bushes. It is a difficult time for all of them and I am sure they are longing for spring as much as I am.

New year!

Almost all posts in Svångemåla News are from or around Svångemåla but since I have not been there lately I will this time make an exception to let you know what kind of birds I can see in Malmö, Skåne where I live during the winter :)

Malmö is the third largest city in Sweden and is very close to Copenhagen, Denmark. It takes only 15 minutes by train to get to the capital of Denmark!

The winters here are mild and we seldom get snow and when we get some, it is usually gone the next day.

Most of the pictures below have some of you already seen on my Facebook page.

As always, click on the picture to enlarge it!

We have a lot of birds on one of our balconies and to scare them away we bought a decoy that supposedly looks very dangerous. Not sure it works very well :)

2020

2020 is not a year to remember. I am not going into everything that went wrong but the bottom line is best illustrated by the picture below. It is a fox who passed by during the last days of 2020. Let us now hope that 2021 will be a happier year for us all!

Great tit (Parus major)

One of the most overlooked birds, I think, is the Great tit. It is so common in Sweden and Svångemåla that it is easy to not notice what a wonderful, cute bird it is. I put this on a Facebook group in Sweden called "Birds around the corner" (Fåglar runt knuten) and within 24 hours more than 1250 had reacted positively to it. That is a large portion of the group !

Great Tit (Parus major)

It is a male and he sat down in our old apple tree enjoying a bit of sunshine.

Christmas Day

Still no snow but the wind is coming from the north and the temperatures are around 0 C.

The sun came out for a very short while and to see it I went to the Field and used the lone tree to be able to take a picture of the blue sky.

Merry Christmas !

We have no snow in Svångemåla but the silence and the darkness makes it a wonderful place to be when celebrating Christmas !

There are not many birds or other animals around but a blue tit came to our bird table to enjoy a sunflower seed.
