Plenty of young ones in Svångemåla!

This little wagtail seems determined to make it although it did not sound very confident. 

A sibling sat in a bush not far away and sounded a bit more confident.

 The parents were close by and took turns feeding the little ones.

Eurasian blue tit (Cyanistes caeruleus)

The Common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) sings very loudly this time of the year. A wonderful little bird that I would like to have even more of.

The Thicket shadbush or Amelanchier spicata seems to enjoy the soil in Svångemåla. 

Damson plum (Prunus domestica) has very sour fruits but its flowers are wonderful.

 European pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) is, as I have written before, a very aggressive little bird that has chased away several Great tits from the birdhouses I put up.

Örarevet May 2018

Örarevet is an absolute favorite of mine. To sit in the sun and see all the birds is the best way of relaxing I can think of but it can also be exciting when you see a tern hunt just in front of you. Fast, brave, skilled are just a few of the words that came to my mind.

A common shelduck (Tadorna tadorna) managed to stand on one led in the soft wind.

New tennant

A Eurasian nuthatch or wood nuthatch (Sitta europaea) is the new tenant of the "birds house" that has previously been occupied by a woodpecker, a startling and other common birds. I hope it will be happy in the old tree and that I can get some pictures of all family members.

Insects

There are plenty of insects flying around in Svångemåla. Many experts think that it will be a very bad mosquito year but we have not noticed too many so far. Bumble bees, butterflies, wasps and bees are everywhere!

Scots pine (Pinus sylvestris)

It is May and 25 C and I am thinking of Christmas.Why? Well, I was as always looking for interesting birds when I saw how lovely the Pine looks this time of the year. It really made me think of Christmas! To get a better understanding, click on the picture!

Very angry bird! ?

The common chaffinch (Fringilla coelebs) is very common in Svångemåla but I have not been able to take a picture of it until now. It sings like a real opera star!

The European pied flycatcher (Ficedula hypoleuca) has been a favorite of mine until now. It looks innocent but I think it is a real bully!

In a recent post you could see a happy Great Tit settling in in this bird house but suddenly a Flycatcher has moved in. I just thought this is the way nature is until I saw that the Great Tit had moved to another bird house not far away.

Just look at its pose!  The winner takes it all or I am the king!

The Great Tit was working hard to build a new home and struggle to get the "mattress" through the door...

but look carefully...it looks a bit odd doesn't it ? The head is kind of flat. Lite a bird "neanderthal".

When I managed to get a closer look I saw that part of its head had been removed. I don't now, but I seriously suspect that that it is the Flycatcher who has done the damage!!  I ask all experts out there, is it possible that one small bird can do such harm to another bird?? I do know that Flycatchers are known to be aggressive but to do something like this ? Sad, very sad!
